Pretty sure I’m not alone when I say, ‘keeping the creative juices flowing can be a challenge at times.’ How do you do that? Here’s a few things I have tried since my last update. I welcome any ideas that work for you…please share!
Go Looong! Trying some new sizes of canvases. I decided to try a longer narrow format which I am finding works quite well for me as I am drawn to seascapes with wide expanses. The feedback I’ve received confirms that as well! I’m so thankful for the continued encouragement and reactions and comments on my social posts, thank you. Next up perhaps some tall…really tall trees!

Mixing new-to-me colours I’ve been experimenting a bit mixing up my palette. The result? So many possibilities! This small piece was created from one of these sessions in my studio. Repurposing an old canvas made me feel good too.

Taking it outside A fun plein air day with friends produced this small piece which may be useful for a larger one in future. Painting outside is not my usual ‘go to’ which means I feel a little out of my comfort zone. A change from painting alone in my studio, painting outside, especially in the company of other artists, can be most inspiring!

So there’s always something new to try to keep me coming back to my easel!
I finished up the month with this one. Inspired from an photo I took only days before I started painting it. While out for my run I was drawn to the morning sun on those islands across the Sooke basin.

Where can you view my art?
