Just over a week ago we arrived at our new home, moving truck unloaded and the unpacking began. Actually quite amazed at how settled in we are already.
After day to day essentials were set up I began my studio unpacking. As I set to moving things about I turned to see my easel doing a ‘timberrr’ and could not stop it in time, watching as the top snapped off striking a box before landing in the floor. Before I could even think of what to do next, my husband swooped in, carrying it away like an injured child lol. He managed to repair it so all good 👍🏻
Happy to say the rest of the unpacking was less eventful and I’m back squishing paint! I opted to start a new piece to warm up as it has been a bit. Here’s a WIP shot, loving that view from my studio too.

I did manage to make it to the May 4th meeting of the Nanaimo FCA Chapter. Most enjoyable, meeting like minded folks and a demo by one of the members too.
The FCA Landscapes Exhibition https://artists.ca/ starts later this month, May 27th. I have 2 pieces accepted for the online portion of this show so pretty excited about that! (link to the Landscapes Exhibition will be posted when live).
I have submitted two pieces for the https://www.ladysmitharts.ca/submission?pgid=krpg62hd-54fb45bd-d4ee-43d2-a064-534495fd1a54 Show coming up June 5-19th. The first time for me as a new member submitting to this gallery. Results for this show yet to be announced. Stay tuned.
I’m still hoping to submit to the Sooke Fine Arts Show, deadline is June 1st. I’ll have to give that some thought.
I would like to finish this ‘warm up’ piece before starting a commission requested. I can’t wait to start, just need to loosen up a bit before tackling it. Lots to keep me motivated.
A huge Happy Mother’s Day to all moms, wherever you are! Hugs to you!
Now back to my easel, paint on!
til next time,
Jenny
