First of all a huge thank you to all who came out to support the https://www.pacificartsmarket.ca/ Art at Maffeo. It was well attended and weather was perfect. I am pleased to say my West Coast Floats were a hit, only 4 of the original 8 remaining! A great market item for sure. To all my friends who dropped by, your support is so appreciated as well as all the lovely comments I received about my work.
I have a few updates, shows where you can view my art…online and some in-person as well (Of course if you happen to be travelling through Nanaimo this summer message me to book an appointment. I would welcome a studio visit.)
First up….
Shack Island is the Heritage Community Gallery show for this summer, July 1st-August 31st. This show offers different interpretations of the wonderful colourful shacks as well as some history about them. Be sure to check out the show and vote for your favourite. I have two pieces selected by jury for the Arts Council of Ladysmith District Botancials Show. The show opens on July 9th, running through July 23rd. As a member I appreciate this opportunity to exhibit and support this fabulous gallery. Be sure to check out this show and gift shop while you’re there!
I have a piece recognized for the 2025 Water Exhibition at Federation of Canadian Artists. The online link will be available when the show opens July 14th.
Arts on the Avenue in Ladysmith 10-4 Aug 24th
I am pleased to announce I will be a vendor at the Arts on the Avenue https://www.artsontheavenue.ca/ celebrating its 27th this year! This is a huge event taking place from 10am to 4pm on August 24th on Ladysmith historic 1st Avenue with all kinds of art. It will be bigger and better this year! Looking forward to this event, meeting everyone and sharing my art. Mark your calendars for this one, you don’t want to miss it! Hope to see you there!
Metchosin Arts and Cultural Centre – August
Great Opportunity…pretty pleased to announce I have been invited to exhibit in the POV (Point of View) Gallery https://metchosinartcentre.ca/pov-exhibition-hall/ for the entire month of August! I have such great memories from Metchosin and will be planning to get out and about after hanging my work. Bike ride, visits with friends, meals at favourites spots, and the beaches! For all my south island peeps my art will be closer to you! lol..check it out. See the link for location, I will be in Hall B.
All unpacked and my studio back put back together…tables back in place, easel back to the spot it usually lives, I’m ready to squeeze out paint again. I really have missed painting this past couple of weeks, however it has been nice to get out for some wonderful hikes, celebrate our country’s birthday and generally slow down for at least a brief time from painting. My hope is to create some new work to add to my inventory for these upcoming events.
Summer on the island is so magical, a joy to be surrounded by such beauty. May you find some time to enjoy these longer warmer days whatever your passion.
