Living in the moment

Being huge Toronto Blue Jays fans, my husband and I watch almost every game from the season opener in March to October ball, or November this year! This season has been exceptionally fun to watch, the Jays appearing after 32 years once again at the World Series, wow! Not the outcome we would have wanted, but a true reminder to live in the moment, live for each series, each game, each pitch! Enjoy each one! So many accomplishments by this team to build on from here.

Sometimes when we focus on the outcome we lose sight of growth in the process. I’ve had a few struggles with what motivates me to paint so I’ll take this as a reminder to reflect on what I hope to achieve in my art.

I’m reviewing reference photos, critiquing my previous work, asking what still works, what could I change. As I grow as an artist sometimes the steps I take may seem small but I see progress all the same.

For me, by creating and sharing my work I hope that we both are taken to a place to experience, and perhaps find a little joy along the way too. Trying to remember to enjoy the moments while working towards better outcomes.

I managed to squeeze out paint for these new pieces and just now added to my available work.

I also played with collage a bit for this new little series I call, ‘From the Forest Floor’. Two of the collages are currently available at Ladysmith Gallery as part of the Monochromatic Show which starts on November 5th, running through November 19th.

Described as one who sees the art in nature, it is here where my endless inspiration comes from. Loving the challenge of capturing the feeling of where I stand, I enjoy recreating that feeling on canvas.
